GitHub Issues

2011 – 2026Initiative

Killed less than a month ago, GitHub Issues was the public bug tracker on Laravel's packages. Over 2026, issues were switched off on about 60 repositories, including Octane, Pint, Sail, Telescope, Scout, Reverb and Socialite, and bug reports now have to arrive as pull requests. Years of discussion disappeared with them, and old issue links now return a 404. The starter kits have issues, discussions and pull requests all turned off, and changes go through the separate Maestro repository. The framework itself still has issues, for now. It was over 15 years old.

Croft

Upstreamed about a year ago, Croft was an MCP server that gave AI agents context about your Laravel app. Ashley joined Laravel, and Croft grew up into Laravel Boost. It lived 4 months before it became part of Laravel.

Laravel Homestead

Killed over a year ago, Laravel Homestead was an official pre-packaged Vagrant box that gave every developer the same local PHP, MySQL and Nginx setup. Its last release was in April 2024, and the repository was archived in June 2025. It was about 11 years old.

2019 – 2025Open-source tool

Killed over a year ago, laravel.com source code was the open-source Laravel website, with a README that walked you through running it locally. That made it easy to self-host the docs or read them offline. The repository quietly disappeared shortly after the Laravel 12 redesign, and now only the docs content is public. Its 2014–2019 predecessor had vanished the same way in 2020. It was over 5 years old.

Laravel Bootcamp

2022 – 2025Initiative

Killed over a year ago, Laravel Bootcamp was a free, hands-on tutorial that walked newcomers through building Chirper with Blade, Livewire or Inertia. It was deprecated when the new starter kits shipped and now redirects to Laravel Learn. It was over 2 years old.

Laravel Breeze

Killed over a year ago, Laravel Breeze was a minimal starter kit with login, registration and password reset in Blade, Vue or React. Laravel 12 swapped it for new React, Vue and Livewire starter kits, and Breeze stopped getting new features. It was about 4 years old.

Laravel Jetstream

Killed over a year ago, Laravel Jetstream was a larger starter kit with teams, two-factor auth and API tokens on Livewire or Inertia. It was retired alongside Breeze when Laravel 12 shipped its new starter kits. It was over 4 years old.

Open-source product docs

2018 – 2025Initiative

Killed over a year ago, Open-source product docs was the public GitHub repositories behind the Forge, Vapor, Envoyer and Nova documentation, where anyone could send a fix. One by one they disappeared from GitHub, probably made private rather than deleted, and the docs later moved to a hosted platform. It was over 6 years old.

app/Http/Kernel.php

Killed over 2 years ago, app/Http/Kernel.php was the HTTP kernel where every app registered its global middleware, groups and aliases. The slimmed-down Laravel 11 skeleton moved all of that into bootstrap/app.php. It was about 9 years old.

Killed over 2 years ago, app/Console/Kernel.php was the console kernel that held your scheduled tasks and command registration. Laravel 11 moved scheduling into routes/console.php. It was about 9 years old.

Killed over 2 years ago, RouteServiceProvider was the provider that loaded your route files, set the HOME constant and configured rate limiters. It was cut from the Laravel 11 skeleton along with most of the other default providers. It was about 9 years old.

Killed almost 3 years ago, Vapor UI was a dashboard package for browsing the logs and failed jobs of your Vapor app. It never got Laravel 11 support, because Vapor's own dashboard had taken over. It was over 3 years old.

Killed over 3 years ago, Laravel Certification was the officially endorsed exam that let developers call themselves Laravel Certified. The partnership ended, and Laravel's own blog now answers the question with "There isn't". It was almost 5 years old.

Killed almost 4 years ago, innocenzi/laravel-vite was the go-to Vite integration for Laravel before there was an official one. Laravel 9.19 shipped laravel/vite-plugin and the @vite directive, and the package switched to low maintenance. It was almost 2 years old.

Laravel Mix

Killed over 4 years ago, Laravel Mix was a friendly API on top of webpack that compiled your CSS and JavaScript. Laravel 9.19 made Vite the default, and Mix went into maintenance mode. It was over 5 years old.

Killed over 4 years ago, SwiftMailer was the library under Laravel's mail component since the early days. It was abandoned upstream, and Laravel 9 switched to Symfony Mailer. It was over 10 years old.

Killed over 4 years ago, Lumen was a stripped-down micro-framework for fast APIs and microservices. As PHP got faster and Octane arrived, the Lumen README started asking people not to begin new projects with it. It was almost 7 years old.

Upstreamed over 4 years ago, fruitcake/laravel-cors was the CORS package for Laravel, downloaded about 125 million times and shipped in the default skeleton from Laravel 7. Laravel 9.2 moved the middleware into the framework, built on Barry's own php-cors library. It lived about 8 years before it became part of Laravel.

Cashier Mollie

Killed almost 5 years ago, Cashier Mollie was the official Cashier flavour for Mollie, the Dutch payment provider. Laravel handed it over to Mollie itself, and the Laravel repository was archived with 25 issues still open. It was over 2 years old.

Killed about 6 years ago, Bootstrap pagination by default was pagination links styled for Bootstrap out of the box. Laravel 8 changed the default to Tailwind CSS. It was over 7 years old.

Killed over 11 years ago, Liferaft was a CLI for reporting framework bugs as runnable demo apps: it forked laravel/laravel, let you reproduce the bug, and opened the pull request for you. It was dropped from the docs in the Laravel 5 rewrite, and the repository is gone. It was 4 months old.
